First, the Hollywood Blvd. theater in Woodridge and the Hollywood Palms in Norridge will be hosting PAM FRICKIN’ GRIER live for screenings of Foxy Brown and Jackie Brown! Shut your mouth. The Palms on Sep 7th will also host Martin Landau for a screening of Ed Wood. The Palms will further, on Sep 8th, host Loni Anderson screening select episodes of WKRP in Cincinnati. Michael Madson will host all weekend long from Sep 21st-23rd Reservoir Dogs, Vice and Strength and Honor. I know this is all confusing what with the two theaters in two different towns and all, but details here.
OK, there will be more stuff coming up as we approach Halloween. Suddenly, Chicago is a happening burg when it comes to genre film events. Here is some info on events I currently know about; more to follow:
Tragically, I will be out of town (Stupid family obligations!!) on September 14th, when Terror in the Aisles will return to the Portage Theater to host a triple bill of Iron Skies (a nifty looking ‘Sky Captain meets the Nazi Version of the Rocketeers’ flick), followed by a showing of The Stuff–by the way, writer/director Larry Cohen will be at the screening in person–before wrapping up with a midnight showing of Frankenhooker. The star of the film, Patty Mullen, will also be in attendance. Pretty sweet, eh?
Meanwhile, the Music Box Theatre will host its annual 24 hour horror movie fest on Saturday / Sunday, Oct 13/14. All the films have not been announced, but so far: The Golem, The Burning, Child’s Play, Deadly Spawn, Phantasm, Blood Diner, Howling 2: Your Sister is a Werewolf (!!!), and Squirm. Guest stars include, seriously, Sybil Danning (!!!) and director Jeff Leiberman. More details as they arise.
If anyone has knowledge of other events that they think our crowd would be interested in, please forward same.
